Brady. Part I.

by Amanda on September 1, 2010

He is not my son.

I am not his mother.

Not my flesh and blood.

He looks nothing like me.

Despite these things he is a part of my family.

Not legally.  But in our hearts and our minds.

I celebrate today, the day of Brady’s third birthday, not as a stranger.
But as his semi-step-mom.  A title I have given myself.

It is hard to get into the ‘he’s my boyfriend’s son‘ story.
Plus it makes it sound like I dont have anything to do with raising him.

I do.

I am not his mother.  Never want to be.  He has a fabulous mom and dad who love him very much.

I am the mom figure at dads house.  The same as his step-dad is the dad figure at moms house.

He has never known anything different from this set up.

It was different to date a ready made family.  But over the past 3.5 years it has been joyous every step of the way.

And life is good.  Happy Birthday Brady.

What an inspiring post. I’m here from this for that. I’m already a FB fan and a follower here. Is there another way I can support you?
