Wednesday’s Stray Thoughts

Every weekday morning for the past 6 weekdays I have set my alarm for an hour earlier in the morning so I could get a short run in.  And every morning for the past 6 weekdays I have woken up in the middle of the night and reset the alarm for my normal wake up time.  I know my thought process is hazy at 4:00am but I am pretty sure it is hell bent on just getting more sleep.
I need to remember that my very first marathon is in OMG 94 days!~
94 days will come and go in the blink of an eye and I have not even run in the past 13 days…yeah.  Seriously.  13 days.

So. I hereby vow that I will get my big ass moving and get back with the training schedule I set for myself because I don’t want to wuss out of this marathon and run it like an idiot!  If anyone actually reads me daily/weekly/ever here is my training schedule so you can ask me about it whenever you like and tell me I am a dumb ass for skipping…if I ever do.
(just click on it to make it larger so you don’t need bifocals to read it)

Plus adding some color to it will ensure that I look at it once or twice over the next 3 months!

I randomly stepped on the scale yesterday and saw that I was down .5 lb, which is totally surprising because I have been eating anything and everything i want. Perhaps I am eating too little?  Who knows, I have not been running and I am eating like a pig plus I lost 2 pounds in the last 3 weeks. So I think I discovered the key to weight happiness.  Let’s see if it sticks…

I am only 1.5 weeks into school and I think I am doing pretty well at this my second go around at grad school. Luckily the classes are free and the books were hella cheap or else this would feel so worthless and monetarily draining.  Plus the best part of this whole deal…one of my books is the 6th edition of the book…when I was in graduate school the first time I read the 3rd edition.  Yeah.  I had to buy the same book twice because of updates.  But on the plus side at least I’ve already read it!

Since I am moderately anal choosy specific about most things that have contact with my life I am proud to say that for the first time in 12 years I have a planner that I like.  A day planner, a calendar…not like I have the money for an assistant to follow me around and fetch my Diet Cokes for me…Ah, dreams.
I have tried desk calendars, monthly calendars, weekly calendars…Ugh, pocket size, full sheet size, half size.  I hated them all.
But I found this planner (saw that a friend on FB had it so naturally I had to have it too) at Erin Condren and let me tell you this is a lifesaver!
You need to get one.  You can pick the color of the front, the wording that goes on it, I had my name obviously, the pattern.
Ah, it is just fabulous.
Nope.  I was not compensated for my gushing review of this life planner.  I paid for this bitch and I am singing its glory because I love it so much!  Erin Condren does not know I exist except that I bought this and my information is probably on file there or something.

Happy Wednesday!
How do you keep yourself organized??

Oh, I LOVE my EC planner! It was the best impulse purchase I made last year. I got my mom one for Christmas, and all of her coworkers have fallen in love with it, too.

It is like crack. Laminated covers full of crack.

I have a planner that is basically a place to make a to-do list every day. I live for my lists. Now get your butt outside and go train for that marathon!

Ah….that is my second love next to planners. TO DO LISTS! They are the fantastic crack that crack likes to smoke.

I’ve seen those planners… so expensive, but probably amazing!

AMANDA – running a marathon unprepared SUCKS! TRAIN! You will not regret it! or YOU WILL regret it on race day. I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE!

I’m fairly certain that training schedule just gave me an aneurysm.

Are you coming to the big shindig tomorrow night or are you in class? If you show up, I will gladly fetch you a Diet Coke. Or a beer.

No shindig for me…you?

And I apologize about that aneurysm..ouch!

Good luck with your training schedule! You’re tougher than me to have races scheduled the weekend after your marathon! I took a full week off before I even attempted to run again.

Eh, that 5K is only a maybe at this point. I think I just scheduled myself to be OOT that weekend any way for work. But I am excited for the race!

I need to know more about this planner! What’s so special about it? I looked up the price and flipped.

Maybe I am missing something. I use a planner but mine is like $12 from Office Max.

Amanda @ There Are Two Sides January 19, 2012 at 4:11 pm

Okay. I agree that the price is seriously STUPID! But. It is built like a rock and has just enough room for everything I carry all the time. A folder, a pouch, tabbed months…and some of them come with a dime bag of weed in them.

I have used other planners but this one keeps me organized.

I just looked at your planner on the Erin Condren website, and I must get it! I love it. I have a planner that I got at Target (Blue Sky is the brand), and I like it, but I like the Erin one so much better! (it’s also like 4x the price, but whatever) :)

Okay. I have had a blue sky planner for the past few years, loved it. But this one is like that planner on crack while coming down from a meth high.

you owe a mile for each day you’ve taken off…haha

Seriously. That is how I feel I should ‘punish’ myself!
I have a 12 miler this weekend so I think that’ll do!
