Saturday Update

The last few days have had me laid up on the couch with a sinus infection, so I have taken full advantage and had a nerd girl moment. I watched all three Lord of the Rings movies, the extended editions, back to back. I had 9 hours of Lord of the Rings heaven, all to myself.  For being sick, it was a great way to spend the day while I was getting back to normal.

On the flip side, it has been KILLING me not to run or exercise. How am I doing with my workout schedule for the week? Let’s check it out…
Week of December 31 – January 6
Monday – Rest
Tuesday – 3 miles
Wednesday – 3 miles – DIDN’T HAPPEN
Thursday – 3 miles – DIDN’T HAPPEN
Friday – Rest – Sure, this happened
Saturday – 6 miles
Sunday – rest

Yeah, missing 2 runs is hard to do. Especially since I am trying to prove to myself that I can be marathon ready in 4 months!  I need these small runs to help my lungs get used to running again. But I am going to get out today and run as far as I can. I am feeling 90% better so I am feeling good about going for a long run today, I am going to wait and see if the temperature will warm up because right now it is only 11* with the wind chill, so I hope it will at least get up to 20* so I don’t freeze!

What are you doing on your Saturday?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with 9 hours of LOTR. I would do it if it weren’t for the fact my hubby would probably rip on me for months for it. Rest up, get yourself all better. You will only make your illness linger if you attempt to run through it…I think last winter attempting to run through my cold gave me 2 solid months of bronchitis! Cha-ching!

I KNEW I would find a fellow LOTR fan with this information! I love these movies and find that they are best watched all in a row, a super movie marathon so to speak.
I thought rest was the best option, too, I hate running when I am feeling even a little sicky.

I’ve never watched any LOTR, but hope you’re feeling better :) There’s no point in pushing it, just let yourself recover. In the end, you’ll be ready and trained and glad you rested properly!

In the end I am happy that I took a few days off, I would have made myself even more sick had I ventured out into the arctic tundra!
